Our Sources & Methodology
Quizitz is committed to producing educational content that is accurate, current, and grounded in authoritative sources. This page explains how we research, write, fact-check, and update our quiz questions and articles.
Our Editorial Philosophy
Every quiz question and blog article on Quizitz is researched and written with one goal: to provide genuinely useful educational content that helps people understand important topics in finance, health, technology, law, and real estate. We do not publish content for content's sake — each piece is designed to be both accurate and practically useful.
We believe that educational content should be honest about complexity. When topics involve genuine uncertainty (for example, contested economic theories or evolving medical research), we say so rather than overstating certainty. When content covers legal, financial, or medical topics, we include clear disclaimers that our content is for educational purposes and does not substitute for professional advice specific to individual circumstances.
Our editorial team researches each topic using primary and secondary sources before drafting content. All facts, statistics, and specific claims are verified against at least one authoritative source before publication.
Types of Sources We Use
Government & Regulatory Data
Federal agencies including the IRS, Social Security Administration, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Federal Reserve, FTC, CFPB, CDC, NIH, FDA, OSHA, and HUD. We rely on official government publications for statistics, regulations, and legal requirements.
Academic & Peer-Reviewed Research
Published research from peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Finance, New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, Lancet, and major psychology and public health journals. We reference academic consensus rather than single studies for medical and scientific claims.
International Health & Financial Organizations
World Health Organization (WHO), World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), OECD, and United Nations publications. For international statistics and global health data, these organizations provide the most authoritative aggregated data.
Industry Reports & Surveys
Reports from established research organizations including the National Association of Realtors, Insurance Information Institute, Federal Reserve Economic Data (FRED), Bankrate, and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
Legal Source Materials
Federal statutes and regulations (via Cornell Law School's Legal Information Institute), Supreme Court and appellate decisions, NOLO legal guides, and state legislative databases. All legal content is reviewed against primary legal sources.
Established News & Reference Publications
Data and reporting from established publications with strong fact-checking standards, used for current statistics and context. We do not rely on unverified online sources or social media as primary sources.
Our Content Review Process
Topic Research
Before writing any content, our team identifies the key concepts, common misconceptions, and practical knowledge gaps for a given topic. We review existing educational resources and authoritative sources to understand the current consensus on important questions.
Drafting & Fact Integration
Content is drafted with specific attention to accuracy. All statistics, percentages, dollar amounts, and specific factual claims are tied to identifiable authoritative sources. We use approximate qualifiers ("approximately," "according to recent estimates") when citing figures that may change over time.
Fact-Checking
Completed content is reviewed against source material to verify factual claims. We check that statistics are current and appropriately sourced, that legal and medical information reflects current standards, and that no significant context has been omitted that would make a statement misleading.
Disclaimer Review
Content covering legal, financial, medical, or tax topics undergoes a review to ensure appropriate disclaimers are in place. Our readers should understand that quiz questions and articles are for general educational purposes only and do not constitute professional advice.
Regular Updates
Many facts — particularly statistics, regulatory thresholds, and legal requirements — change over time. We periodically review and update content to reflect significant changes. Contribution limits, interest rates, tax brackets, and similar figures are updated as new information becomes available.
Content Categories & Standards
Finance & Insurance
Financial content references guidelines from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, FINRA Investor Education, IRS publications, Social Security Administration fact sheets, and established financial literacy organizations. We clearly distinguish between general financial education and specific investment or tax advice.
Health & Wellness
Health content is grounded in guidelines from the World Health Organization, CDC, NIH, and peer-reviewed medical literature. Nutrition information references USDA Dietary Guidelines and academic nutrition research. Mental health content follows guidelines from the American Psychological Association and NIMH. All health content includes a disclaimer to consult healthcare professionals for personal medical decisions.
Technology & Cybersecurity
Technology content draws from NIST cybersecurity frameworks, FTC consumer guidance on digital privacy, academic computer science publications, and established technology journalism with strong editorial standards. Cybersecurity statistics are sourced from IBM's annual Cost of a Data Breach Report, Verizon's Data Breach Investigations Report, and FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center annual reports.
Legal Knowledge
Legal content references federal statutes, FTC guidelines, case law summaries from authoritative legal sources, and established legal reference resources like Cornell's LII. We are explicit that our content describes general legal principles and that specific legal situations require consultation with a licensed attorney. Laws vary by state and jurisdiction.
Real Estate
Real estate content references National Association of Realtors research, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau mortgage education materials, HUD guidelines, and Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae publications. Mortgage rate statistics are sourced from Freddie Mac's Primary Mortgage Market Survey and other established market data sources.
Corrections Policy
Despite our best efforts, errors can occur. We take factual accuracy seriously and are committed to correcting mistakes promptly when they are identified. If you believe you've found an error in our content — an incorrect statistic, a legal principle that has changed, or a factual claim that doesn't match authoritative sources — please contact us at hello@quizitz.com with the specific content location and the source supporting the correction.
We will review the feedback, verify against authoritative sources, and update the content if warranted. We appreciate readers who hold us to high standards of accuracy — it makes our content better for everyone.
